If you have a question that isn't covered here, we'd love to hear from you. Please drop us a line at info@industryinteractive.net.
- Does Mailmanagr.com store my Basecamp username and password?
- Yes we do, we have to (if you want Mailmanagr to actually work with your account). Basecamp needs you to login in order to make any changes to your account.
Because 90% of what Mailmanagr does happens behind the scenes (processing e-mail messages and turning them into messages, to-dos and milestones), we need to be
able to work without asking you for your username and password.
- You're storing my password?
- We do store your password in an encrypted format to try to minimize the risk. We can't just pop open the database and look at your username and password (we'd have less time to work on development if we did that).
It's not a one way hash, but we'd have to put some effort into actually decrypting it.
- Is information that's sent through Mailmanagr.com secure?
- Messages travelling between your computer (or other device) and the Mailmanagr mail server are unencrypted. If you've got a Basecamp account that supports SSL,
then communication between Mailmanagr and Basecamp is encrypted. We don't store any of the information that gets sent through Mailmanagr; once it's posted to
Basecamp, it's gone from our system. We keep logs of the activity, but they only tell us who posted what type of information (Message, todo, milestone), when they posted it,
and the result (whether Basecamp accepted it or threw an error).
- What do you do with my information?
- We've tried not to ask for any information that we don't need to operate (with the exception of your name on the signup form). Everything else is used to
communicate with your Basecamp account and to allow data transfer between Mailmanagr and Basecamp.
- We don't store any of the information you send through Mailmanagr. Once a message has been successfully posted to Basecamp, it's deleted from our systems along
with any file attachments you sent.
- What about backups?
- That's the great thing about e-mail; you've more than likely got a copy of the message you sent in your "Sent Messages" folder. We don't keep backups of the information
sent through Mailmanagr (seriously, once it hits Basecamp, it's out of our hands).
- I'm having problems connecting
- Make sure that you have the proper settings saved in "My Info" and that you have API access enabled. Personally, I can't see where API access can be turned off,
but 37signals tells me that every Basecamp account has the ability to turn it on and off (check your Account Settings page, would be my guess).
- I know I can connect because I see a list of my projects/categories, but nothing is getting posted to Basecamp!
- You have (more than likely) got your http/https setting wrong. If your Basecamp account uses https, but you've got http specified, Basecamp will try to
redirect your API calls. That works great for queries, but not when we're trying to send information to Basecamp (it's one of those things),
so double check your settings. If that doesn't fix it, please get in touch, and we'll work our socks off to figure out the problem.
- What browsers work with Mailmanagr?
- Pretty much any modern browser. We've tested it with Firefox 2 and 3, Safari 3 and IE 7. We've done some basic testing with IE 6, and it should mostly work, but there may be a couple of bugs. If you
notice any, feel free to drop us a line.
