If you have a question that isn’t covered here, please drop us a line at info@mailmanagr.com. We’d love to hear from you.
How much does it cost?
Either free, or $7 US per month — it depends on your needs.
What is the difference between the free and paid plans?
The free plan is limited to 20 addresses and can’t send file attachments. The paid plan has no restrictions, allows for “wide open addresses” (anyone can send e-mail to them), and will also be getting some other premium features that we’re working on.
Does Mailmanagr.com store my Basecamp username and password?
Yes we do, we have to (if you want Mailmanagr to actually work with your account). Basecamp needs you to login in order to add messages, todos and milestones to your account. Because 90% of what Mailmanagr does happens behind the scenes (processing e-mail messages and turning them into messages, to-dos and milestones), we need to be able to work without asking you for your username and password.
UPDATE: Coming soon, we won’t be storing your username and password any longer. 37signals has made some changes to API access with their roll-out of 37signals accounts. We’ll still need to ask for your Basecamp username and password, but they’ll just be used to retrieve a token. We can then save that token, and ditch your Basecamp info. Watch for an announcement about this coming soon.
You’re storing my password?
We do store your password in an encrypted format to try to minimize the risk. We can’t just pop open the database and look at your username and password. It’s not a one way hash, but we’d have to put some effort into actually decrypting it.
Is information that’s sent through Mailmanagr.com secure?
Messages travelling between your computer (or other device) and the Mailmanagr mail server are unencrypted. If you’ve got a Basecamp account that supports SSL, then communication between Mailmanagr and Basecamp is encrypted. We don’t store any of the information that gets sent through Mailmanagr; once it’s posted to Basecamp, it’s gone from our system.
What do you do with my information?
We’ve tried not to ask for any information that we don’t need to operate (with the exception of your name on the signup form). Everything else is used to communicate with your Basecamp account and to allow data transfer between Mailmanagr and Basecamp.
We don’t store any of the information you send through Mailmanagr. Once a message has been successfully posted to Basecamp, it’s deleted from our systems along with any file attachments.
What about backups?
You’ve more than likely got a copy of the message you sent in your “Sent Messages” folder. Sometimes e-mail providers will clear out these folders after a while to save space, but you should at least have a backup for a couple of weeks.
We back up all of our stuff, including the databases of addresses and such, but we can’t retrieve that file that you sent through Mailmanagr 3 days ago (see above).
I’m having problems connecting
Make sure that you have the proper settings saved in My Info and that you have API access enabled (it’s on your Account Settings page in Basecamp).
I know I can connect because I see a list of my projects/categories, but nothing is getting posted to Basecamp!
You have (more than likely) got your http/https setting wrong. If your Basecamp account uses https, but you’ve got http specified, Basecamp will try to redirect your API calls. That works great for getting info out of Basecamp, but not when we’re trying to send information to Basecamp (it’s one of those things), so double check your settings.
The best way to figure it out is look at the URL on your dashboard (not on your login page). If it reads “https://something” then you’re using https. Everyone logs into an https page on Basecamp, so you can’t base it off of that.
Do I need to be the Basecamp account owner to use Mailmanagr?
Maybe. API access to Basecamp can only be turned on and off by the account owner. Assuming they’ve got it enabled though, you’re all set to go.
